After assigning team roles, we got to work on a ton of concepting; brainstorming about potential mechanics, the game environment, and the feelings we would try to portray in our game.
We quickly went through our first concept pass, with some artwork from our artists, Alice and Ilan:

Ilan's First Character Pass - Disjointed, cartoony theme

Some Cool Hats from Ilan

First Level Environment Concept from Alice

Alice's First Character Pass: Humanoid explorer, with the first design for the Harpoon Blunderbuss

NPC/Enemy Concept by Alice
Ilan also provided some colored concepts for potential world areas:

Region
connecting bridge

Edge of the World
During this week we also developed the basic storyline we wanted to follow, to help us cement our vision for the game on something concrete. It would later be adjusted to go along nicely with our gameplay ideas.
Gameplay mechanics were not set in stone at this point, and as such will be discussed in our next post, for our Week 3 Scrum.
